Whiskey Barrel Oak: Rings with a Memory

American white oak is the species of choice for whiskey barrels, and that oak spends three to seven years inside charred casks absorbing smoke, vanilla, caramel, and tannin from the spirit. When the barrel is retired, the staves carry a trace of that history in their grain -- and we use them to make some of the most conversation-starting rings we produce.

The colour of whiskey barrel oak runs from deep amber to dark brown, depending on how long the stave spent inside the barrel and how heavy the char was. Some staves read almost black. Others stay closer to a golden honey tone. Each one is unique, which means your ring will never look exactly like another whiskey barrel oak ring, even if it is the same design.

After our waterproof coating is applied, the subtle smoky aroma fades to nearly nothing, though a few wearers swear they can still catch a whiff of oak and bourbon on cold mornings.

Our most popular whiskey barrel oak combination pairs it with a copper wire inlay. The copper's warm red-gold tone mirrors the honey-brown hues in the wood, creating a ring that feels grounded and masculine without trying too hard.

Every whiskey barrel oak ring comes from a real barrel. Some staves come from distilleries that have been closed for decades, preserved only by the craftspeople who recognized their value beyond the barrel. When you wear one, you are wearing a piece of American distilling heritage.
